This is rather absurd. Ceballos is not the greatest midfielder of all time but he’s been with the squad for a while. He’s experienced and he’s cheap. Replacing him will require spending lots of money on a player who won’t walk into the XI.

The club should convince Ceballos to stay before we end up with a Modric-Guler double pivot one of these days.

Ancelotti has one of the hardest jobs in the world. Every season he’s got a hole in the squad that could be managed by a decent signing and the club insists he must pull a rabbit out of a hat. This season might be the most trying yet. After signing Kylian Mbappe the talk has revolved around the structure of the squad more than celebrating the superstar signing. That in itself is a sign of trouble.
