UP NEXT: Celta Vigo

Carlo and his men will be determined to recover from Sunday’s humiliation with a strong showing at the Bernabeu.

A win against Celta is expected but what isn’t expected is any real change in approach.

We expect suffering met with whistles and individual brilliance met with rapturous applause.

It also seems Carlo has reached his quota of Castilla players with Raul Asencio.

Confirmed Changes

Lunin will start. Courtois absence is a cause for concern but we’ve been so poor this season it hardly makes a difference. Lunin has proven he can do a job but no GK is going to be great the way we’ve played this season.

Expected Changes

Asencio will start. Tchouaméni will likely be shuffled back into midfield as a thank you for filling in at CB and the young Asencio will continue until he is displaced by the returning Alaba.

The Key to Midfield

Ceballos helps Carlo find a lazy solution but it comes with a problem. Ceballos is not a pivot. And both Fede and Jude have to start. So Carlo has to pick his poison. Ceballos and Camavinga complement each other rather well but that would require a 4-CM combination and that means one of the front 3 must be left out.

You would hope the manager picks the XI according to the relevant strategy for the opponent we are facing.. And yet.. You ought to know better.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Lorenzo Aguado is in the squad. Given that he’s the only Right-Back in the squad hopefully he will play.

Worst-case scenario he will be replaced at halftime because he can’t hack it. Best-case scenario, we finally have a Right-Back in the first team.

It’s almost insane how many fullbacks have left the club during g Carlo’s time and now we’ve got a fullback crisis.
