Real Madrid Castilla coach, Raúl González, reflected on his team’s 2-1 defeat to Alcorcón in the post-game press conference on Sunday night. Despite the loss, Raúl praised his players’ performance and highlighted the debut of promising young player, David Yáñez.
Game Analysis
“If you take the result out of the equation, it’s a very good performance. The team has created a lot of chances, it has had a lot of opportunities. There have been moments when we have dominated, but in the end football is about goals and Alcorcón has been successful, with two goals from two players we know and who are from the club. But we are on the right track, working well. We have been deserving more for several games, but we haven’t achieved it.”
Praise for David Yáñez
“Yáñez is doing things very well. He is a player with a great future, who is doing well in the Youth League. Today he had space, he could have scored a goal, he is a player who can make the difference. We are keeping an eye on him. He has a great future.”
Reflections on the Defeat
“The results are what they are. Football is about scoring goals. We have to stick with how we approached the game, because that’s how we’ll get many more wins. Now, it’s time to rest, because next Sunday we have another chance. As the weeks go by, I’m sure the boys will improve.”
